Met my first ever Aston knob at Henley yesterday. He was bragging he spent quarter of a million on a DBS ultimate Edition. Very obnoxious little chap who demanded to know what mine had cost and actually said he had a bigger dick because his car cost more. Very amusing that I left with three very attractive blonds and he was Billy no mates. But people like him are a poor ambassador for the brand. If he lurks on hear and reads this I hope he is suitably embarrassed smile

I think you're making this up Stuart.
I was at work all day, yesterday.
Definitely never went to Henley, so there's no way we met there.

There's no shortage of poor ambassadors for most brands, but judging by some of the contributions to a few of the threads on here, Aston Martin does unfortunately seem to have more than its fair share. I don't know why, but I expected the opposite.

When people start going on about the cost/value of their car I usually just smile enigmatically and walk away.

People with nothing to prove in life (either in money or knob stakes) drive a V8 Aston.

That's my theory and having now seen Rob after a few drinks, I wouldn't be surprised if he both agreed and was prepared to prove it. On the other hand, I know at least one V12 owner who's life depends on Viagra smile

laugh I wouldn't be so bold, as I'm only a guest here and haven't bought an entry ticket! The recent Bamford Rose name change thread is an example of the kind of thing that I'm referring to. smile

I subscribe to the Aston and Porsche forums for the cars, but it's the handbags that keep me coming back, the BR thread a great recent example.

To be fair, I met quite a few like that when I was a member of the Ferrari Owners Club. IMHO, it tends to be the nouveau riche crowd, with their penchant for all things expensive and new; those members with older cars, or who maintain newer/expensive ones on 'a shoestring', because their car is a passion rather than a symbol, tend to be the friendlier, more likeable, crowd.
