Boot pops open

Hi,
I have a 1998 Chimaera, and if I open the boot and close it, then its ok. But within a mile of setting off it pops open. Luckily the boot lid doesn't actually open right up, but it did when on a French motorway as I was just over the speed limit! Is there anything that can be done?

Mine pops open if something heavy hits the back panel from inside, like the spare wheel....

I know mine isn't because of something banging against it because when it flew open on the motorway it was fully packed. I presume it must be a relay or something. I hope someone can come up with the answer.

Mine does the same and at this very moment I have the striker plate in front of me and notices that it is worn where the 2 arms meet above the spring they go side to side about 2mm when they should be head on thus giving enough movement in the lock to release the pin on the lid

Does anyone know the difference between a mk1 and a mk2 boot striker plate, does the mk1 have the longer arm ?

Used a punch and a hammer to get rid of the play and now boot locks properly, happy days
