I was just wondering how many people have done there own TVR engine rebuilds and to what extent, and have they been ok or did they need another go,Its just with all the horror stories about TVRs own engines poor rebuilds for garages a minefield to pick through on info and parts why would you touch one, But why not !!!!!!

I rebuilt my own 500 Griff back in 2004.... Drove the car until 2010, then sold it......the new owner is still pleased as punch with the car, and I believe it runs as well now as it did when I did the rebuild..smile

A Buddy of mine rebuilt a AJP V8 with his father after being told it couldn't be done, it took them a while but it's fine.

Bought my 4.6 V8 for my old Griff from an "engine builder", rebuilt it myself when it failed and it made 327 bhp.

Still going strong the current owner of the car..

Providing you get hold of the manual with all the correct measurements and clearances stated, and that you are very clean, careful, patient, methodical and pay very close attention to detail (e.g. liner heights on an AJP) it's fundamentally no different to any other engine.
