Sounds like a logistical nightmare.

Where did you hear about this?

Germany has them already, and as they are trying to standardise across the EU it doesn't surprise me .

Germany has a 2800 GVW limit I think for vans to be exempt from certain internal laws

As much as it would be a pain in the arse, you could probably get to do more if a 3.5t van was fitted with a tacho, presuming that you already comply with the WTD.

The working day is capped at 11hrs for a van driver, with 10hrs driving, IIRC. EU rules would see 9/10hrs/13hrs with a couple of reduced rest 9/10hrs/15hrs days.

If all the van does is drive then you may not win, but youre probably breaking the WTD already.
