HOW LOUD SHOULD A CERBERA BE...????????
Discussion
This is my fourth tvr in the last twelve years. 2 cerbs a Tuscan and a chimera. Cerb exhaust is act sports tails, silenced centre pipes and standard cats .Sounds great but not sure if too noisy . Tim at ACT said he thinks sports exhausts are not as popular nowadays . Modern Ferraris , porsches, lambos ,etc sound nice but more muted. I was considering his new standard rear back box. Has anyone fitted one ?? , do you still get pops and bangs ?? or is it TOO QUIET FOR A TVR???.

Really?Mine has the ACT rear sports pipes (3 inch) and is also de-catted and sounds absolutely fantastic
even if I say so myself
Carn't imagine wanting to go back to standard set up

Mines got standard manifolds, then act decats, and big bore system (silencers in the centre section, then sports tails which include a small box and some silencer material in the 3 inch tails).
Sounds like a thunderstorm, but totally awesome.
had cats and some cheap sports tails previously, but it sounded a bit tinny so changed for a quality system

Depends what you want / horses for courses really...?
I did the stupidly loud exhausts thing through motorbikes over the years, and yes, it is utterly childish but really good fun setting off car alarms, the bangs and pops and crackles etc..... But for motorbikes eventualy realised that more noise does not necessarily mean extra power....... and now 2 out of my 3 bikes now have full Akrapovik systems. High quality, proven power, and loud on full chat but surprisingly mutted (but threatening) when bimbling round at more sensible speeds....
My Cerb has standard headers, sports cats and a sports backbox (not sure of origin as was on the car when I bought it 5 1/2 years ago). For me - this is about the right balance. It's loud enough at tickover and bimbling in traffic to still turn heads, has utterly addictive snap, crackle and pop on the overrun between 4k down to 3k, and howls at full chat.... BUT it's OK enough for me to have done a number of TVRCC track days (so then, that's clearly 105dB (ahem...) ) and also doesn't make your ears bleed on longer trips and motorways (e.g. when used for work trips or down to Le Mans etc) and I can take my kids in it without (too much) complaint.
Pays yer money....
takes yer choice.
