My Porsche Cayman 3.4 S (Gen II)

I joined the forum recently and picked my new car up this weekend, so thought I'd share some pics with you all. It is 2010 Porsche Cayman 3.4 S in Basalt Black with the 19" Turbo wheels. Needless to say it is already my pride and joy, despite having recently bought my first house! Previous to the Cayman I owned an Alfa 159 TI for 3 years (with the 1750 TBi engine), which was fantastic. Before that I owned a Nissan Micra and then a Ford Focus, both of which were solid (if a little uninspiring) cars.

There are a few minor cosmetic tweaks I have in mind, and I will also look into getting cruise control installed as it's probably the one key feature the car is missing. I live in Edinburgh so would certainly be interested to hear from any fellow Cayman/Porsche owners, or indeed any petrol heads, in Scotland if there are meets/events etc. Let me know what you think of the car!

The Cayman really is a very good car, and the amount of luggage it can swallow is pretty decent!

Cruise control is overrated anyway! haha. I'd save you're money and put it into something that helps you get more control over the car and not less!

I really love the cayman, way more socially acceptable than a Boxter, newer than the equivalent 911 and just bloody lovely. I'd have it in your spec too OP, nice choice!

Did that steering wheel not rub against your chin sitting that close?

Thanks for all the comments chaps. Needless to say I am very pleased with it. I've had cruise control fitted now and going back soon to get some new centre caps fitted to the wheels (quite scratched/peely) and also the aluminium mesh grille for the vents in the dear diffuser (I think it looks a bit "unfinished" in that area). Got my personal reg on now too.



Otherwise I plan to keep the car fairly stock and just enjoy it!

Not really updated theirs thread for ages, but after a recent trip to the Isle of Skye I thought I would upload some pics from that trip. Since I bought the car I have overhauled the interior (lots of new leather and alcantara bits replacing the black plastic), had it lowered , put spacers on, had a Carnewal GT exhaust installed, put Cayman R headlights on it (just love the black rim on them), put a Ducktail wing on it (think this really improves the look of the rear end), and otherwise spent thousands maintaining it.

I really love the car but I am strongly tempted by the new shape 718 Cayman S and am speaking to a dealer about one. I'm going to test drive it though because one of the things I love the most about my car is that amazing flat.6 wail, which i just can't see the Turbo 4 pot reproducing!

Thoughts/opinions welcome.

Can I ask who did your interior work? One thing that bugs me about mine is the centre console is scratched and looks rubbish and have thought about having it trimmed.

DomVrs - I highly recommend getting a new look for your centre console. It makes a world of difference to the interior's look and feel. I bought my Alcantara one from Porsche, and it was therefore not cheap! However I got the various stitched leather bits (door handle surrounds, wing mirror triangles, instrument cluster hood, centre stack side panels) from either Exclusive Option in America (Frank is a really friendly guy) or TechArt in Germany (contact Jörg). Both of those companies are cheaper, and they would definitely re-trim a centre console. Alternatively you could look up coachtrimmng companies in your local area. A cheaper option that some people go for is to have their existing console painted in the car's exterior colour (google "Cayman R interior" for examples). This is probably less durable in the long term though.

Lovely car and the interior upgrades are definitely a huge improvement! Good to see some of the Scottish scenery - I really need to get mine over to the West Coast (I'm based in Aberdeen) in 2017!
