Hi all, I will start with the glass half full position.. I am hoping to find a roll bar for a 82 280 wedge. I am building it up to take in an Australia targa race so I might be on here allot..

Some year ago wedge roll bars were the thing. Try looking using the wiki-search for finding the details. Grady

My wedge has a Safety Devices roll bar fitted. Very neat installation and fixings for harnesses. Hope this helps.

I've one in my 1982 280i FHC. What do you want to know? Do you want the cage? Long way to Oz for p&p tho.

I have a "style" bar fitted ... cannot call it a rollbar even though its construction exceeds FIA specs, its never been certoified or crash tested

here is mine ...

made from CRS Steel, its thicker than FIA spec cages, but I opted for welded seams rather than thee FIA spec bolted ones.
Its also raked back at 30 degrees to allow for helmets and also sits snug inside the roof hoop.

Its welded to the rear out riggers behind the seats and is bolted to the top of the diff hanger

Yes, they were an independent specialist, but due to health reasons (so im told), the company folded.

If you want measurements or detailed pictures, im happy to grab some if it gives you ideas.

This bar is my second, the first was more "goal post" shaped and made of 30mm stainless bar that rippled on the radius's because of the stainless, hence why I went for CDS steel and 68mm tube on the second

Looking at the dash I'm guessing the picture is of a later 400 style Wedge? If the roll bar is needed for an earlier Wedge then I think the chassis are different and therefore the mountings are different.
I fitted one to an earlier Wedge made up of a hoop from the 'Rollcentre'. This bolted to the outrigger plates and the back struts to the chassis mountings near to the diff mounts. Not the easiest job and took ages to get it to fit right.

Cheers Steve

yes, mine is a 1992 400SE.
I could have fitted a rollcenter one to mine, but I didnt like the way it was mounted, hence why I went for the diff hanger.
Im glad you posted the pic though, you can see the way its bolted and the "kink" in the cross bar as opposed to my straight bar.
