Pops and Bangs + tyres + Foggy dials
Discussion
Anyone notice if S's pop and bang more in the summer rather than the winter?
And how often does everyone check their tyre pressure? Ive not checked since purchase in July, tyres 'seem' ok although that is probably an erronus statment
Also, the 4 dials on the centre console, I noticed they steamed up once or twice, but have not done so in a while. Are they sealed units? I noticed another S had steamed dials at a meet once, assume its the weather and all S's do this?

They're sealed when they're new, but it doesn't last forever and they will mist up eventually (noticed this when I had a new tachometer which was clear for a couple of years, before joining in with the other dials' mist-fest).
Mine pops and bangs all the time - maybe more so when the air temperature is very cold although this is the first winter I've had her so difficult to be certain.
All my instruments steam up, with the exception of speedo, tacho and clock. I believe this is a common 'feature' of the S.
Check your tyre pressures regularly - not only to ensure decent grip (its getting slippy out there) but incorrect pressures can lead to early tyre wear. I suspect you have probably spent enough on the S for the foreseeable future

My dials havnt misted up in a long time, only did it twice, if normal then no reason for concern.
Does the Bible give the best pressures for front and rear tyres, and does my having 16 inch rear wheels make any difference? (Havn't checked the bible, but will do so later) As a matter of interest, I heard that RR figures can differ depending on tyre pressure

my dials also mist up, mainly the centre four but occasionally the speedo joins in. remember reading a posting that said this was normal so promptly though no more of it, guess its to do with temperature difference, warm cab cold dials. mine doesnt pop and bang a great deal am i doing something wrong, have noticed a Power boost valve under the bonnett which i think i read somewhere helps even out fuel flow and hence reduce pops and bangs.
but then is only just three weeks old in my eyes so what do i know!!!

Yes misty dials TADTS.
As for tyre presh, put 24 pounds per square whatsits all corners.

Will fill em up with 24 whotsits (first time I've ever filled tyres on my own car
) this weekend. Incidentally Oldred, it was your dials I was thinking of when mine misted up. I noticed at the glassplopper meet, and remember thinking "Glad mine dont do that"

Bob,
Also get foggy 'small' dials - again assumed this is so because above the transmission, so get hotter, but glass is in cooler cabin??
PS -Why do they put square inches of air in round tyres? Won't it make the ride lumpy?
Nick
Its better than putting a few bars of air in
