Time for another cat thread...

Just playing with a rather average picture of Megan and fished out a result I rather like!
The rather average picture:
And the one I quite like:
That's the thing I love about digital - so many good images waiting to be released!
And one more: 'The Photographer's Cat'. I'm not sure which rules of composition it fits but it works for me...

Love the almost monochrome one, I think if you made a vertical crop just where the chair ends it would get rid of the distracting highlight and you'd be left with the pattern of the stair rails, the pattern of the radiator and the cat. MIght have to trim off something at the top and bottom if you don't want a vertical letterbox though.

Actually that's exactly what I did to start with... witness:
(actually it IS monochrome, not almost monochrome).
However, I then decided I liked the open room effect and the pool of sunlight on the chair - more atmospheric - so went back to the other version!

The cropped image is amazing!, did you change the colour of the fur?
Actually I did quite a lot!
...Crop
...Make monochrome
...Increase contrast
...Copy and paste rectangle containing coloured eyes from original image (can't use history brush after cropping)
...Erase unwanted parts of rectangle to leave coloured eyes on monochrome b/g.
...Select 'eyes' layer, brighten and sharpen.
However, I'm sure others would get a similar result in quite a different way!
The Micro Nikkor is known as a sharp lens but I'm pleasantly surprised with the eye detail
Another image for my exhibition next year

It's hardly the Barbican I'm afraid: Essex County Council allows budding artists and photographers to rent space in their libraries for a month at a time. You get a chunk of wall and have to supply all the product yourself, frame it and hang it. So I'll select photos that are most likely to appeal to Joe Public as an impulse purchase, eg fluffy cats and pretty flowers, rather than anything too off-beat. But it's a good chance to get my name around and hopefully I'll sell a few photos as well.

why not try spot-coloring with the room effect one, put his eyes the same as the one in the cropped picture?
Good luck with the exhibition
edit:: just looked through your site there and there is some great stuff on there
Given me lots of ideas
