As per the title, anyone done one ? Experiences, advice ?

Looking to perhaps go "one step beyond" an impending major service and do the logical (?) thing by doing an "Anne Summers" on her to maintain the interest, as it is a keeper.

Thought initially the relatively simple 9E40, but the dark forces are leading me to drool after 9E38, or even (out damn Satan, out with you ) 9E32.

Am I Already beyond saving ? Should I ? Have you ? would you ?

They seem to have a very good reputation on here, should I go beyond the simple REvo chip job I have enjoyed on the car this last 7 years, I am guessing even reprogramming has made mega advances in that timescale.

Always been a bit anti (usually boomy) sports exhausts, has anyone tried their switchable one that forms part of the packages, is it as quiet as normal at closed setting ? The vids they have are (as usual) a little inconclusive.

Well, I've not had a 9e package fitted yet but I've had lots of chats with Ken and they have done lots of other work on my turbo. Great outfit. If you start to get hooked on the packages check the depth of your pockets first.

Have a 9e22 (well it was called 9e800 when they first started) for over 3 years now - done close to 30,000 miles and not had an issue.

imo they are so far ahead of the competition now when it comes to tuning, love going down there to see what is going on...if I lived closer I would be there more often.

I think Ken said they had released new stage 2 stuff that was the fastest available on the market now...something about new mapping and some hardware change I think.

They are producing 4.1L engines now for both 996 and 997 turbos.

Can't imagine going anywhere else for tuning. Currently saving for the next stage up.

Good Luck.

Let me chip in with a little experience... Been a 9e customer nearly since they started up, first a 9e25 car, which was on stock internals, in fact the car was a solid 23 sec car on 0-300 kph GPS. Thinking back I think that car ran a good 25.000 km, I loved that car so it became a partly daily as well. Then I had a 9e20 car build with a 3.8L engine that ran solid 19 sec. Eventually that engine was used for upgrades to build a 9e17 car as well. I think my 3.8L block build by 9e ran around 30.000 km mainly as track and VMax200 toy. I did though use it as road car now and the as well. Each of the cars they build was just as capable as road cars as the original standard Turbo. Once I even drove the 9e17 car down to my ski hut for a weekend ski trip :-)

Now things have turned hugely serious :-) Last year Ken and team build me the 9eXX car which set overall VMax200 record and that was even on a wet day, 229.6mph and that was only at 75-80% max power. The car still ran on the 9e 3.8L engine, which in itself is hugely impressive. But over last winter 9e advised me of their 4.1L engine with lighter and stronger internals...so that's where we went. Unfortunately I have been away most spring so not had a chance to really track the car yet, but after summer when the travel schedule freezes up, it will be out on tracks in EUR/UK and it will show up at next VMax to rewrite sense of Porsche Turbo reality :-)

Ken have build something special in 9e, the experience and knowledge on Turbo Porsches are unrivaled in EUR. His team are super switched on, little Ken replicates and they go that extra mile on customer support and attention. Having had Porsches tuned, track prepped and serviced all over EUR the past 20 years, I can confidently state the 9e team stand out as #1. Even when it comes to little remap, air filter, exhaust upgrades, this is where I would go.

If you want any private input, let me know! I will be happy to elaborate further on my experiences.

Remember, you always need more power, it's never enough :-)

Good luck,
H

Btw, their exhaust is brilliant, in quiet mode you can cruise all day and in open mode it's the best sounding exhaust on the market. I have the 60/40 version to avoid any kind of back pressure, but when closed it passes Dutch MOT easily and they are strict like hell over here. Even in full open mode, it's not loud or irritating inside the car. As a normal road car, you will be fine with their 40/60 system.

Best 911 Turbo tuner in the UK bar none, with sensible advice backed up by real world experience.

Sorely tempted - they did a PDI on my 997 turbo and I was very impressed

I have never used 9e, as when I had a 996 turbo, they were just too far away from me (4 hours) for the relatively mild tunin I was looking at.

But I did have a few conversations on the forum with Ken before he started 9e and in the early days of setting the business up. He was always open, honest & helpful & I liked his no BS attitude with proven facts....

I like his philosophy and this is highlighted by his tuning packages which quote achievable 0-300kph times, it is easy to make a turbo car quicker, but it is an art to have it perform repeatedly and reliable at these high speed levels.

No doubt about it, if you want the best, and you want exactly what you pay good money for with no false promises, 9e seem the best by a country mile to me.

Sorry, but every package is different, what we paid may or may not relate to what the next guys pays, i.e. I didn't go for the 9e exhaust as I'd just spent loads on the full monty Akrapovic Evolution system and getting it fitted. But that did mean Ken and the boys simply unbolted our old turbo's and binned them.

And our uprights needed welding and re-drilling for the new calipers, I also asked for all four O2 sensors to be changed, again I knew they would simple unscrew. We also tried 5 bar pressure on our car and found the injectors we're 100% open quite low in the rev range, to get power you need to burn some fuel, it does not matter how much to increase the pressure pretty soon you'll need to pump some more fuel in. So Ken reverted to standard pressure, dropped the engine and uprated the injectors, also fitting a new plenum and other bits.

We never entertained engine only mods - the best bits about our car are the brakes and the feel RWD gives, our package included suspension, brakes and engine (oh and PCM removal with a proper tomtom nav and a reversing camera and....)

Best advise is to give Ken a ring, he's a lovely chap, far better than me saying our package cost n when you're not even interested in half the stuff he did for us. We bought the brakes at the right time, I believe they are far more expensive now, and we also had a blinding deal on the turbo's and other bits, it all depends on what Porsche or the other suppliers are charging. I will say that I could have spent far more, but Ken said wait for some bits to have a natural end of life before simply changing them. Then uprate them smile

Its the 6pot calipers that are more expensive now.... Porsche more than doubled the price on them overnight.

Makes the conversion to upgrade the brakes much more expensive indeed, albeit you can make savings by using 997turbo discs (350mm) & pads rather than upgrading the whole hog to Alcon/Brembo/PFC discs and rs29/pfc etc pads.

Another happy 9e customer here.

Ken's team have looked after my turbo for the last 3 years covering normal servicing plus a Stage 2 tune, proper brakes and a few other sensible mods. The car is now exactly how I want it . . . . until temptation gets the better of me again!

You won't go wrong with 9e.

Never used 9e yet but have talked with Ken and did some testing on my car a long time ago when 9e was just starting up, hope to use them at the start of next year to see what the next step for my car is.

Slightly off topic, my car is running 500-550 BHP+ DMS did all the work.
Its my first 911 with a slush box which if i'm honest with all the power tends to lend itself (no need to take my hands off the wheel!!)
I'm considering installing Hybrid turbo's to get 600+bhp and the rest
Worries are the car has 93k miles albeit is as tight as drum doesn't smoke or use oil and was compression tested around 10k miles ago, no issues

Is it a daft idea to stretch for further power given the miles?
What sort of power can the Tip box stand before going bang?!

I know Ken has stopped posting on here now but I think he has several customers on 9e30 with a tiptronic. iirc after that the box needs upgrading. Best to give him a call as he knows the box better than anyone.
