8k to spend but what to get?

So I've got £8000 burning a whole in my wallet, but I just cannot decide what to get. It has got to be fairly quick, look good and be fairly reliable. Any ideas? Not bothered about practicality really just something that will put a smile on face.

Rather than spending it on a bag 'o ste, get yourself some solar panels. One decision that you won't regret. Not very PH I know, but that cash does not an F40 get.

Maybe you need to be more specific on your requirements mate. If it is to be a second car I suppose for fun factor a caterham or something similar will be as fun at you could get! For an all round great car with looks and a car that will retain its value, mk1 Focus RS. I've had one and trust me, standard or modified they are blisteringly quick, look great and are reliable motors Quite rare as well.

I'd love an e46 m3 but those troublesome vanos can be pricey.

To be more specific it will be a second car but I want something that can still be used everyday if needed so no caterham really, mk1 focus rs however is right up my street - great idea!

Would an e39 M5 be a dog at this price point?

You can pick up a very decent Porsche Boxster S 986 for £8k.

Or if it needs to be sensible then Golf GTi.

Mk1 Focus RS is a good shout, Impreza P1 or Evo VI are also great cars which are almost depreciation free.
