Impressed with 7 year + scheme

Dropped my 911 off to OPC Guildford today for an MOT and a few items to look at. Nice to hear that MOT's are free after the car is over 7 years old and that labour is £75 per hour. Impressive I think and it's another year without me trying a specialist.

Have asked for a bore scope on all cyclinders, which is only 1 hour labour also. This should give peace of mind if I keep the car longer or aid with the sale, as if there are any issues; the engine will be rebuilt due to Porsche warranty.

All round, very impressed and driving a 14 plate Panamera for the day, just a shame it's white :-).

I booked my car in at an OPC in may for an MOT and cost me £60

never heard of this free for cars over 7yrs of age

I would be amazed if the OPC diagnose scored bores knowing they'll have to repair it under warranty free of charge.....

They don't pay for it, the warranty company does, therefore the OPC profits ;-)

Not sure i follow this point. The warranty company would pay as Porsche Cars GB doesn't underwrite its own warranty scheme - as far as i know.

Allianz underwrite it, as far as I could see on my paperwork. Porsche International Reinsurance are involved, but that's big company stuff a bit beyond my paygrade.

I am not sure that its quite that simple. The dealers will have a close relationship with the warranty company and the level of claims will be directly proportionate to the cost.

The dealers will certainly not just throw anything at the warranty company as they will ultimately pay for it!

The warranty costs will be negotiated with Porsche at the UK level, not OPC level, hence it's the same price for all owners regardless of which OPC you go through.

Dealers are keen to undertake warranty work as they get paid for it - but of course the warranty company will need to authorise the work to ensure it is covered by the policy!

The 7 year scheme runs beside a 4 year scheme. Was at Porsche Hatfield last night for PCGB meeting and they were offering this - the 4 year scheme also has a free MOT and labour is charged at £96 / hour. They conceded that they were losing customers once the cars were three or four years old (no st sherlock)...

They've also dropped the warranty charge inspection fee by half as well... (but I want to get it free...)

There's never been a *hint* of a free MoT test from my OPC.

Agreed - Guildford have offered me a free MoT on my 5 year old 911. I also had my 20,000 mile service done on the 4+ scheme. The discount was more than 10%.
