Urgent help needed

Just got this email from Jan Dunk area 16..... Can anyone help?
Hi Tony, seeing as you are the man who knows everyone and everything I am asking for your help please! Mick and I are on the Aston tour in Northern Spain and he is having trouble with the car overheating. He has noticed that the off side radiator cooling fan is not working so he changed the blown fuse for it , and then off we went only to find that it had blown again! We have had to re-fill the radiator as it has been boiling up and making some weird bubbling sounds in the heater matrix, which maybe an air lock. Seeing as we are in the middle of nowhere with a load of Swiss idiots who haven't got a clue (same for the English unfortunately!!) we don't have a hope in hell of ever getting back to blighty! Unless that is you can put this onto Pistonheads to see if anyone out there has got an answer as to why this has happened but more as to how we can resolve it. PRETTY PLEASE!!
Oh if you do by anychance get an answer, will you be an angel and text me back as I have no idea when I will next be able to get into my emails.
Thanks as always
Jan xx

Tony,
If he wants to continue making progress tell him to turn the air conditioning off (it will be putting a lot of heat in to the condenser which is in front of the radiator). If he can then keep moving at over 30 mph he should be able to keep things going without boiling over. In fact the faster he goes the better will be the cooling. I should imaging his problem has occurred going up a steep pass slowly. He still has one fan going so he is with a fighting chance I would think. He needs to let things cool down before he goes topping it up with cold water.

Not sure which car but cooling system will get benefit of the one fan remaining. As said air con off. The reason I ask which car, is there anything else supplied off the same fuse which could be blowing it? Must admit it is likely to be fan though. Very carefully and with everything switched of and cooled down a prod at the fan may reveal ceased or free. Free is no gaurantee of no fault but would prove jammed or not.

Good advise Neil... Speaking from experience? you could also run the heater, that typically helps with cooling

With the engine cooled down they should manually check for free movement of the blades , if they are lucky then they may find something restricting its movement ( stray plastic bag ) or binding against the plastic surround . Comparing turning resistance against the good fan may indicate a dodgy motor ( one turning more freely than the other ) which if the case will draw excessive current and pop the fuse .Fan motor failures are not unheard of , so this may be the case here . As already mentioned AC off and heater on coupled with reduced engine RPM may be enough to keep it relatively cool .

good advice, all I can add is upping the fuse to the next ampage size may get it to work long enough to get home (if it turns by hand)Popping the bonnet when cruising on smooth roads would help vent a lot of heat.
Bearing in mind the DB7 bonnet opens the correct way for a V12 engine ;-)
Any wind whilst driving will press the bonnet down, and of course there is the safety catch too.
Those bonnets are heavy buggars too so no chance of it being pulled open at all.
You can also manage to fully latch one side only and leave the other side open a little :-)
No answers to the problem but a means to let some extra heat out.
Also removing the 3 plastic covers helps too ;-)
