Hi I'm Tom and this is my tornado red Volkswagen Polo, some of you might remember me from sometime late last year when I had a Land Rover Defender, sadly that was sold when I received an offer of around 5 times what I paid for it haha. Anyway, I'm back now with this 1991 Volkswagen Polo which my Dad bought for my mum when they got married and she used for a couple of years before selling it on seemingly never to be seen again. Then, in 2007 the family it was sold to about 20 years ago got in contact with my dad asking if he wanted it back as the head gasket had gone and it was due to be scrapped, my dad accepted it and it's been dry stored for around 7 years having had absolutely nothing done to it! As I've just turned 16 he decided to give it to me as something to learn on whilst I study engineering (although it won't be my first car, I've got an Alfa mito lined up for that) . As you can see It's in a bit of a sorry state at the minute but the plan is to restore it to factory specification and keep it as original as possible because surprisingly it's in fairly good shape (apart from the obvious head gasket problem) with quite low mileage

I'll rather play with the tractor behind and the mouldy steering wheel makes me queazy, but each to their own and good luck.

I would too, but unfortunately it belongs to someone else and I've already got a replacement wheel ready to go on because I agree, it looks completely grim!

A Bready is a great car to learn/practice mechanical skills.

A head gasket on a small block VW is one of those jobs that once you have done it a couple of times you can do them in your sleep in a couple of hours.
