My only beef is ONLY 500 BHP from a 427!
Jesus H! What is wrong with these people? They should be geting 600 BHP without even trying!
Interestingly enough:
C5 Z06: 405hp from 5.7L - 71hp/litre
C6 Z06: 500hp from 7.0L - 71hp/litre
I suppose also that this 500hp also does pretty good gas mileage, and upping its output would also cause strains on other components, I'm thinking drivetrain and the like.
Another way I'd like to look at this however is this will (should!) be a very reliable engine, retailing for $70K (and can anybody can find something else with 500hp/500lbft of torque for that price)... Given the current 405hp Z06 is quicker than e.g. 500hp Vipers 'round tracks, the extra 100hp and 100lbft of torque (that 500lbft of torque is the "best bit" for me!!) really makes me wonder what this 'vette will do!
The pictures actually do look nice (though the 'Z06' benefits from being shown next to a 'C6R'?
Unless my eyes fail me, they're just CG, though, so the real thing may be different. Even the engine pic isn't real!!! Maybe GM leaked them so that they can come out with an 8 litre behemoth instead :-)
If the stats are correct... it's a bit worrying that the 0-60 time hasn't significantly improved over the C5?
Hopefully those black gill inserts make the C6 gills look better than on the coupe. They're such tiny slits that it almost looks like someone's vandalised the car as opposed to the holes being meant to be there!
Hey ho...
It's nice that they've not only taken inspiration from the MR2 and the MX5... isn't the nose hole stolen from the Celica?
If the real Z06 looks as good as these images then 'maybe' I'd consider one, but I still doubt it.

can any one get the videos from the cwww.chevrolet.com/chevylive/ page - have downloaded the Chevy live now thing and still can get the videos from the Corvette page - keep going round in circle back the GET CHEVY LIVE NOW! page!
So this should give the GT40 good competition!
Drysump, Ti rods! nice
What a leap forward. I just hope the chassis can handle well. Should beat the Viper hands down. Personally, I think the looks are a little bizarre but performance is performance and that is what I like. You get down to sub 4 sec naught to 60 and its pretty tough to improve on that without making compromises.
