A little heads up " warning" I've been a fully paid up customer of censored for many years both cars and household appliances . I've just been rejected for a claim on BMW zed 4 roof motor albeit I had the same problem with an earlier zed and no problem claim . I've warned bmw car club who recommend them so I'm passing this advice on .
I would have been better to save the money in a piggy bank . Be warned !!!!

How much was the warranty out of interest?

When I was looking they were a lot (as in 2x +) more extensive than an Audi warranty.

On what grounds did they reject the claim?

Because on the zed the electric motor had been affected by water which is what happened before but this time they decided to reject but I'm going to lodge an official complaint as I paid for the top of the range cover.

Assuming you have their LuxuryCare policy the following is one of the specific exclusions "folding roofs & folding roof frames & mechanisms" so while I wish you luck I think you're on a hiding to nothing.

Not uncommon with warranty policies. Unless the user really examines the exclusions in detail there will be claims which are not covered. I would just be glad that they did not refuse the first claim. Soft tops are notoriously suspect hence the exclusion. Cheaper to carry your own risk. Save the money up you would pay and every chance you will win. Plus then there can be no exclusions.

In my experience censored play a straight bat. The policy I have on the Discovery is one down from 'Luxury Care' so works on a list of what is included, rather than what is excluded: they've adhered to the letter of it on wear and tear, too, stumping up for worn-out suspension bushes at 90k miles and agreeing to replace the complete wishbones rather than forcing my indy to swap the bushes out.

Seriously, I'm not sure why anybody would be surprised by this. IMO these warranties are generally not worth the paper they're written on, with the exception of allowing you to sleep at night IF your car doesn't bork, as you BELIEVE you have cover. I wonder what percentage of claims they all actually pay out on? Sure there will be people here who have had claims paid but it wouldn't surprise me if they were found to pay somewhere between 10-15% only of claims submitted? I was sold one once, when I was young and gullible, but I'd never pay money for one again.

Seems a fair judgement to me. Unless the insurance covers the vehicle I can see little benefit and exclusions are rife in this business. I have used my suggested method of saving the premium and using this as your insurance fund over the years and it has worked for me. In fact I am in credit with myself. Each to their own but I would never consider such a policy.
