Hello all,
Thought I would just share my latest car with you all, i was on a very tight budget and think i did quite well!
117,000 Miles
12 Months Mot
2 Months Tax
Fairly decent service history
Next to no rust! Always a bonus.
Planning to keep it for a while & put some 17" M sport alloys, clear front & rear lights, maybe lower a tad.

ETA: Emtech of Salisbury have one of these as their courtesy car, and although it's a little doggy, each time I've been there I'm glad they let me borrow it because I love driving it. If I replace my E34, it will be with one of these.
In contrast to the other advice, I'd say buy a set of used wheels/tyres on eBay - those ones look really small! You can swap them back before you sell it, so it shouldnt cost you much, if anything, and I doubt it'll make much difference to insurance. I wouldnt bother with the lowering or clear lights though!

I agree, mind. I have an old 520i right now and it's the most comfortable car i've ever owned. Taking away from the waft factor would just ruin the entire car. It's not even slightly sporty and you need to accept that.
My old e34 525i however...brmm brmm!
I love these old barges and had one from new to 98k, mine needed a new clutch ( on insurance as it been stolen off the drive and used in an armed robbery ...) and just regular servicing and brakes and a couple of bulbs.
I'd keep it absolutely standard and concentrate on the smug factor of having one of the smoothest 6 cylinder lumps ever made purring away in front of you
