Audi Rutland thefts - fire up the A3, we've got work to do.

"Thieves smashed the windows of 28 Audis across Rutland and Leicestershire in two days earlier this week. They searched glove boxes and stole any expensive items. Det Sgt 1570 Steven Hutchings is leading the investigation. He said: “Although we can’t say for certain at this stage we are looking into the possibility that the incidents may be linked"
Are you sure sarge? If they messed with Gene's Quattro though, I'm sure they'd be baaang to rights.

Ive been (un)fortunate (read how you like) enough to have 3 brand new Audis. Each and every time it arrived the plastic key (rather than the full key fob) was in the unlocked glove box.....
The key can be used to get into the cars but not start them as the newer models have the fob that you push into the dash. However on some markets the metal key is in the key fob which can be removed from the fob and replaced with the plastic one. When started the car goes into a valet mode.
So perhaps they were on the look out for keys. The cars could require new locks rather than just new windows.

So there, not only are Audi drivers W****kers on the road, we're daft enough to keep the spare key in the car. You can be certain that your average company car Audi driver wouldnt know that this key was in the glove box nor therefore remove it. If its been stolen, these cars will require new locking systems, not just Windows. The plastic key can be used to open the doors.
