Flew over a couple of days ago... Now Chinooks and military rotary craft aren't unusual around here, also living in Medway it's more common to usually see a blue & yellow Police bird OR being near the Thames estuary the occasional yellow SeaKing

But this one, similar to one of these



was matt black and was flying, very low, low enough to see that it had no markings at all (or they were black on black)

What could it have been?

sure it wasn't a westland snecky becky version on trials?

Don't know... the only Westland I can readily identify is the Lynx

This one was larger and definitely had those^^^ aft/mid mounted undercarriage nacelles (is that the word?) or a very close match.

A RAF Merlin would be my guess over a Sikorsky.

AgustaWestland have a black Merlin carrying out test flights from Yeovil at the moment. It's the first airframe for Italy's Combat Search and Rescue order.

It was flying a bit low over a populated area if it was a trial flight though scratchchin
