do you need an espresso machine or can you make do with nice 'normal' coffee? I only ask because Bean-to-Pot machines are far cheaper. That said, I got a burr hand grinder for £30 and an Aeropress for £25 recently, pretty good results really.

I have a burr grinder and a Chemex, and make some wonderful filter coffee - but I have been craving esspressos lately.

If you already have a burr grinder, why do you need a bean to cup machine? just buy a decent manual machine (like a Gaggia Classic or similar) and use that with your grinder. You'll get much more bang for your buck that way.

There was a Saeco machine at JL for £179, which was an amazing deal but seems to have now disappeared.

I think it's the Intuita, which is up on their site now for £350... Should have bought one to resell!
