TVR Sagaris

Why I chose it: "Does it need an explanation?! It's a TVR Sagaris, the most sought after model in the TVR range. It defines the TVR brand with its bonnet slashes, loud side exit exhaust, leather clad interior and above all, it's yellow! It's a car which will appreciate in value and I'd never get bored of driving it. The TVR Car Club is fantastic, they organise so many events throughout the year, so a TVR must always appear in my garage. It's the only car that would replace my TVR Chimaera. This particular example is very low mileage and in the right colour."
Land Rover Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6

Why I chose it: "I've always wanted a Discovery as my daily drive, and an off-road experience at Land Rover West Country reinforced the idea! It really is an incredible vehicle. It's fantastic on road and unbelievable off road. It's luxurious inside and looks civilised outside, unlike many brassy 4x4s currently on the market. It's a little more than I wanted to pay, but it's worth going for the Discovery 4 over the 3 and it looks fantastic in green with almond leather. Lots of options including the panoramic glass roof also attract."

Why I chose it: "I've always loved my little roadster sports cars, and I've had a few in the past. But I've yet to try out the SLK55 AMG. I very nearly bought one, but opted for the Z4 M Roadster instead which was a fantastic car. But I think it would be fair to get something my girlfriend would enjoy driving. She's always wanted a Mercedes SLK and would definitely want the airscarf and the Harmon Kardon stereo. I would want that V8, so this particular example ticks all of those boxes. So, a nice easy to drive sports car with a big V8 for those days when we don't want to take the TVR out."

Wow!! I'm first! 
seriously I do like this - not quite as polarising as my choices <grin> but who can't appreciate a Sag? LR is a great do-it-all mobile, I just can't help thinking that the Merc is a little superfluous (unless the Sag breaks down)

Great choices except, given the OP's previous car history the SL55 AMG; a mate who ran TVRs when I did went from Griff to one and was frankly overwhelmed. He let me drive it and, nice car as it was, I could see his point. (He made up for it by swapping to an Audi R8 and then to an R8 V10, so there was a happy ending, in case people were worrying.)

If I'm honest, I had a tough time choosing the second car, but £16,000 didn't leave much to play with! I would have chosen another Z4M, as it's so fantastically great, but I thought it was a little boring to choose a car I'd already owned. My girlfriend loves the SLK and I do have a soft spot for a small unsuspecting little roadster with a big V8 in the front! So it's a nice refined, easy to drive car, with lots of power, which will keep me smiling over the wet winter months.

The SL55 sounds nice and it is probably quite easy to live with. The TC lets you get a nice little bit of sideways and gathers things up nicely if you're a bit ham-fisted/aggressive, so it's not a car that's going to be hard to live with in a "spit you through the hedge" sort of way. Just feels a bit blunt and lacking in that raw, seat-of-the-pants power.
Excellent choices. Not a fan of the Land Rover but would be practical and comfortable.
I would possibly be more tempted towards a Tuscan S as the fake slashes on the wheel arch of the Sagaris are a little too much.
Fantastic choices though with the Sag and the AMG both being quite a rarity on the roads these days.
