for reasons best left unsaid I found myself watching sylvester stallone and sharon stone in "the Specialist" last night, the hghlight of which was undoubtedly the rather gaudy cerise purple 968 cabriolet driven by the bad guy, James Woods. Having just acquired a much more understated midnight blue 968 cab myself, I was delighted to see one on telly (I've not seen one before). I was rather baffled however by the noise the car was making. Now either there's something terribly wrong with my car, or the 968 in the film had had its engine overdubbed with what sounded very suspiciously like the noise of a flat 6. Am I to conclude that my gorgeous german growler is not manly enough for hollywood, or do I just need my ears syringed? And if youre gonna use the sounds from a 993, why not simply put it in the film?

I saw it too Tim, your not alone, anyone else watch the worst film of the decade last night ( although I must say James Woods was terrific as a manic/psycopath/law enforcement officer/employee of the bad guys)
Anyway I thought it was a 928 cab with a Chevrolet small block /302 Boss Bullitt sound track overdub ??

That movie is pretty dire. Also the delectable Ms Stone doesn't shed anywhere near enough of her wardrobe to compensate - despite being sublimely beautiful.

This is fairly common. I remember Rambo, he was riding a 4 stroke trail bike & they dubbed that with a 2 stroke sound. Maybe there's some cheap dub company that don't know that there are different types of bikes and cars sounds!

Terminator 3. Anyone notice the Lexus cab had a 4cyl overdub? Now, that was bad!
