SO I'm just selling off a Mk2 MR2 Turbo (not my sort of thing), and I got to thinking' whats the most interesting car i can get for around the £2k mark?
Specs:
- must be "interesting"
- must be reasonably cheap to insure (Classic / specialist)
- not a project but doesnt need to be concourse
- not a motorway cruiser/barge
- not a shed
- not a chav car
- Simple to work on - the less over-complicated electrics b
ks the better
What i like:
- Quirky stuff
- British stuff
- Italian stuff
- Surprisingly fast stuff
GO!

true...OKthis is just as a fun extra/spare car, not for daily use or commuting
- seats, not bothered, 3 would be adequate
- boot, not bothered
- fuel, not bothered
- comfort, not bothered
fast = sub 5 secs to 60, and can go round a corner without scaring pedestrians (unlike a 2cv)
You might struggle to get into the 4.something to 60 bracket for 2k. Unless it's utterly ruined.
I would think a 90's Jap turbo (with the wick turned up) would be your best bet. I wouldn't expect it to last for long though at that money.
The only thing that really jumps to mind is........ a mark II MR2 turbo.

sub 5 secs is only a "nice to have", under 6 would be adequate.

All i can think of in that way is something like a cateram/westfield/seven type thing, but they dont really appeal to me either.
Mk3 Mr2! 7 to 60, so not that fast compared to other sports cars, but faster than mx5 other small sports cars. No room inside though...
Other wise I'd say maybe Integra at a push but I doubt you'll find a good one for 2k.
RX8s are surprisingly cheap, sub 60000miles there seem to be a lot for 2k. Quick, quirky and looks great.
Alfa GTV, looks great, Alfa engines sound good as well.
