hi i seem to have killed my wifes tz-30 by dropping it, i have tried to get it repaired but one place wanted £170 and wouldn't guarantee a fix, another said not to bother.

i tried the home insurance route and was surprised when they said not bother as well, and sent me a amazon gift voucher for the cost of a new one minus my excess. i thought they would say tough to be honest.

anyway, all in i have about £210 to play with to get the wife a new camera, what would you recommend?

the tz-40 seems to be the critics choice and the wife loved her 30 and the pictures.

stay with panasonic or go to someone else?

cheers

If she doesn't need the zoom range then the Panasonic LF1 or LX7 are only slightly more expensive and pretty much as good as you can get in a compact. Aside from that I'd be tempted to stick close to what she's used to unless she has a particular hankering for a new gadget to learn.

Currys / PC World are currently doing the TZ-40 for £149, or with a panasonic case and second Panasonic battery for £168-99, such a good price I've ordered one to collect in store! Perfect for a holiday camera.
