What car: überestate for £10k

Planning next year's purchase. Looking at getting something to compliment the Abarth 500, in about March.
It needs to be an estate. It needs to be as über as a £10k budget allows. I know I can't have the best of all worlds; so not worried about fuel economy but couldn't justify frequent, huge bills.
Alternatively I could stretch to £20k, but that would mean finance. Would this allow for something significantly better? B8 S4 eventually?
I am thinking a C5 RS6 for £10k? However most have been mauled, and they're looking a bit tired and dated now, also reports that they haemorrhage your wallet.

Truth is that anything "uber" will likely have pretty hefty running costs and potentially ruinous possible/future bills.
If it were my money:
Low budget/frugal = sorted Volvo T5 (tweaks to turbo & suspension)
High budget = BMW M5 touring with Warranty.
Middle ground could be a Forrester STI (if you like that sort of thing)

By über you mean as fast as possible?
I'm not really sure what E55 W211's cost these days, but I'm assuming one can be had roughly within your budget. Though I'm also assuming they can break the bank when things go wrong. Then there's the E39 540, which probably fits your bill quite nicely.
For left-field stuff there's also the V70 T5 and 9-5 Aero, both of which go like scalded cats and can be had for peanuts. It goes without saying the rest of the budget should then be blown on... enhancing performance.

I know, I don't think überestate and high bills are exclusive of each other. I was thinking that if I didn't finance for something then I could afford to put away a couple of hundred a month as a breakdown fund. Then if I was doing that should I not just buy something newer that wouldn't be as susceptible to such ills?
I missed the important details that are I have had a Phase 1 V70 T5, Phase 2 V70 T5 and a Saab 9-5 Aero saloon. The Volvos were stock, but the Saab was 'noob tuned'and probably around 280BHP.

Spend a lot less and buy an Impreza Wagon with some subtle performance mods ie map/exhaust/brake uprade. I think that's what I'd do.

Or maybe a Vectra VXR estate? I wouldn't but they are quick.
Other than that RS6 for me but prepare for wallet rape even if the DRC has been replaced with conventional suspension, recent gearbox rebuild and evidence of frequent and recent servicing/belt change.

r spec b - for under £10k it doesn't get much better especially as affordable sleeper estates goFifteen hundred quid for a Volvo 850 T5R/850R, save the rest for a gigantic turbo and new con rods, couple that with wanting new tyres and front anti roll bar links all the time!
Failing that the modern V70R can be had for less than 10K and is properly quick, coupled with AWD, just make sure it is a car manufactured (not registered) from mid 2004 on as they had a few updates to the AWD system, most are automatics so you may have to do some searching/traveling around if you want a manual.
