ECP's Eicher brake parts relaunched - better?

Saw a big poster today in my local branch of Euro Car Parts advertising that Eicher brake parts are now made in the UK - they've changed the packaging to red boxes instead of green

Anyone used these "new improved" parts? Found the old ones were a bit hit or miss.

Claim to be suitable to fit to a car that is under manufacturer's warranty - that implies that they are OE equivelant....

I'm not 100% convinced they will still be that great. IMO will still be designed as a budget based pad but we will see.

The fact that a 'budget' brake pad exists is worrying enough, let alone a massive motorfactors trying to put them.

Now made in TMD Friction aftermarket factory in Scotland. Same place Mintex brand is produced (yes TMD own the Mintex brand) check out TMD's website.

Not to be confused with the OEM factories where genuine, Textar and Pagid are made.. These are made in Germany and other mainland Europe locations.

That's quite a claim. Can't see how that can be even remotely true unless they're saying "if your turbo fails, these pads won't stop them paying a warranty claim". Which is a pretty pointless statement.

You'd have no hope of a brakes warranty claim when using non OE parts!

I know the rules, the point is it's a pointless statement.

Warranty on stuff nothing to do with brakes won't be affected as I said above, but that's the same for any parts you'd buy in this country unless you're making them at home in your shed.

The manufacturer won't (and can't) warrant after market pads that they haven't tested. I.e. if you fit non OE discs and pads and then go in complaining of brake noise, judder, performance or whatever the first thing they'll do is tell you to put the proper parts on.

Or just do what I did - and wait for an ECP 50% off sale weekend - like they often do, and did this weekend.

Ok, not EVERYTHING is 50% off - but 30% off brake parts this weekend, saw me with a new set of Pagid front discs and pads ordered for what I think is an utter bargain price.

If you wait for a 'sale' then you can get Pagid and Textar stuff for Eicher money!

The price this weekend with the discount is the same price I paid last week with carparts4less for pagid discs and pads. So no need to wait for the Ecp sale, just get it delivered from cp4l. (Yes, I know they are the same company).

Ive used eicher pads on a number of BMW cars over the years and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever
