Hello, could anybody recommend a wireless keyboard and mouse setup please?

Requirements are that it must have forward/back buttons on the mouse, and it must use just one USB socket.

Cheers!

Logitech Cordless Desktop MX. - About £80. Comes with a cradle to charge the mouse etc.

Very good!

microsoft one doesnt work with w2k but the logitech one does it that makes a diff to you. hence we use the logitech ones and they're are great and we have some on back order - we're having trouble getting them

Have a rummage on Ebay for 'just-deals'; they are based in Eire and flog 'refurbished' Logitech stuff for as little as you can get away with paying.
I got my black kbd and mouse (4-button with scroll) for £13 + carriage.
Works fine, but I have yet to see how it is 'refurbished', it looks like new. Only slight prob is it is a US spec model, so no £ sign, but clearly if you hit shift-3 you get £££££ It has audio controls with rotary volume control, scroll wheel and a myriad of dedicated buttons etc etc. The mouse is optical rather than ball-type.

Thanks peeps.

Matt do you have a link to the MS kit you have, and can someone clarify how many connections to the pc they will use and what they are? (I really want something that will only take 1 usb)

I've bought in two of the MS optical desktops. They just plug into the PS2 keyboard connectors. Both on Win2000.

The one which won't work with Win2000 is the bluetooth set.

I've got the Logitech MX, and the recharging facility is excellent - just stick the mouse in the cradle overnight - a lot easier than messing with batteries.

interesting one that one

to me the idea of having a wireless is to avoid the cradle type

so I bought the Logitech Cordless click plus because you just plug in a little receiver in the usb port. Perfect for my laptop and being on the move a lot.

but it bl00dy eats batteries . Mind you it's on 14 hours/day

In my case, I suffered one wireless mouse death due to my wife throwing it at me. Fortunately, she missed me.

I was thankful that the keyboard wasn't wireless too!
