Celica Brake pad change - I think my caliper is stuck.

HI all,



I've just changed the disks and pads on my Celica T sport to Mtec disks and EBC Redstuff pads. The RH side was not spinning freely after I re-assembled it, so I took it apart, bled it and refitted it until it spun round a bit more freely. I've just driving it a couple miles and disc had heated up so much it was smoking. I've run out of time today, but I have all of tomorrow to fix it.



I suspect the caliper is probably getting stuck. Is this the most likely cause? If so, whats the best way to fix it?

Smoking could be just a coating being burnt off new discs.

COULD be.

Check for binding again tomorrow and replace,repair caliper otherwise.

Just read this on a Toyota forum...

Take the wheel off and inspect the brake/hub assembly, may be a good idea to get the rotor(s) resurfaced and get new pads as well, if thats not the case, inspect the brake hose that leads up to the wheel well for any signs of damage. If they seem fine id definitely try bleeding all calipers from farthest to closest, if all else fails, you may have gotten a faulty caliper, hopefully not..

Turned out that the slider was seized. All sorted now.
