The fantastic British Seagull
Discussion
Do any of you remember Woody Allens film, The Sleeper? Specifically the scene in which he was trying to escape the baddies, with Diane Keaton in tow if memory is correct, and he finds a really old VW beetle in a cave? Of course, he escaped using the VW which, as one would expect, started first time. Well, I must report that I sold my 42 year old 1.5 hp British Seagull engine, given to me by my father when I was 12. It was my first foray into engine ownership. Well, I just received an email from the nice chap who bought it and he reported that with some new petrol mix and three pulls on the cord, it started. It hasn't been used, at all, for about 15 years. Now that's what I call a result!
I am sure that there will be more stories reported here that match or better that but it just blew me away. The Land Rover of the marine world? Sure.

Class engines. I was told that they have Seagul races in Cornwall or Devon somewhere. Apparently it's just a knees up for a jolly though! :-)
Every summer, at Shaldon Regatta, there are seagull races (amongst other races). You are correct in thinking that the whole event is just a big alcohol fuelled jolly!Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
