BMC Air filters
Discussion
Have just installed a BMC air filter to my 997TT 09, seems more free reving lower down the rev range and less restrictive. Is this all physiological or have others experienced the same. Also looking for a exhaust system finding the standard a little to tame, any ideas on a system thats louder than standard but not too loud or causes drone in the car.
Whenever I've out that type of filter in my cars I have noticed the same as you mention. I'm sure it's helping, that's what they are designed to do. I put one in my 997 turbo as well recently but as part of the upgrade, so I can't attest to any difference it might have had.
As for exhausts, if you want whisper quiet (as you currently have) on the motorway but savage noise when you're giving it some, then I think you need a switchable exhaust. They're not cheap.
I have a Kline Innovation on my car and it sounds fab, only really opens up when you get it past 3,000 revs. But there is increased noise in the cab on the motorway, although I don't really notice it now. I want the car to be a bit more of the animal it is.
