Changing my engine
Discussion
Been over to Germany last couple of weeks met some friends talked about V8 engines and bike engines, turbos, and a friend took me to the back of the workshop and there lay 4 1.5 Turbo engines/gearboxes and he offered one to me for my Ultima, so I have decided to put one in an Ultima.
Oh did not tell you the engine was made for Brabham originally by a small company called BMW it's been dyno'd at 1400bhp on full boost ..

Not worried about rebuilds, as we have a few spare engines... very concerned over the chassis..
I will need to talk to the factory and see if we can have a Ti chassis made to take the power,
Good new is my mate from Germany who works for AMG has a set of carbon ceramic brakes .. which are meant to be outstanding

If you are at all serious about this engine, just what are you building the car to do/prove?
I can take these things seriously if the overall package does straight lines quickly, stops quickly and also performs fantastically on the track and road otherwise its just a streetable drag car.
I thought the factory were hopeful about your car on TG for the other Stig to try. Any news on this 'cos that would be just what the marque deserves.

Aren't these engines based on the same block as that used in the 60s/70s 2002? If so, I believe they used the same 1.5 engine in the semi-spaceframe 2002s for GT racing. There is one still operating in Aussie with reduced boost generating approx. 600-700bhp. I don't think it would be much good for road-use though - No power, no power, no power......ALL THE F*CKING POWER!!!!!!! Great for wet roundabouts!
It also makes me question why you'd consider a 70's 1.5litre production car engine fitted with a huge blower over a state-of-the-art bike engine with similar displacement and philosophy? Oh yeah, we've been down that track!

just a bit of a side thought Gman. why not run an ex- indy car 3.3ltr twin turbo V8? these things will make 800 bhp on the limited boost that they run. also very light at around 118kg i think. nichealson maclaern build a N/a version (just remove the turbos i was lead to beieave) and they are turning out 550 bhp at 9250rpm. due to the low boost they run at, will probabaly run on pump fuel.
just a thought, but if you already got the engine(s) then go for it! they do lag a bit though.
thanks Chris.
PS. freinds at AMG? will get them to get you one of the boxes that the Zonda has. 6speed and has bin prooven to take 800bhp in the back of the kornegseg?????? (how ever you spell it) CCR.

also Gman, you could stick with your current unit and mod it further. simply
bolt a ProChrager (id go for the F1) and lower the com. ratio to about 8.5 to 1, and you could easaly see over 900bhp @ about 20psi. and you could ratain the carb, just convert it to a blow through. simple.

Can you get Toulene in the UK?
In the states, it can be purchased at a hardware store. About a 1:16 mix of toulene to fuel will raise the octane by about 3-4 points.
During the 80's heyday of turbocharged F1 motors, that was what they used to run the crazy 60 psi of boost in the 1.5 liter motors.

never new they used that stuff, just thought they ran race feul.
is it the stuff conmertical gardeners us to remove tarn and marks off drive was? if so you can get it. just make a fake name and letter head and send it to a wholesales requesting the stuff. that how i heard iot was done.
this stuff is good though. on another board some guy said he was using it in his EVO (i think that was the stuff). he recond you could us upto about 20% mix and it def made a diffrence.
thanks Chris.
