New car

I'm looking to buy I new car with in the next few months I'm wanting an estate preferably German I'm going to spend around 9k could stretch to 10 I currently drive a audi a3 1.6fsi.

my main questions are what engine should I look at I commute 20 minutes to half an hour to work on A roads nation speed limited and 30mph villages and cover 12,000miles a year so should I get diesel or petrol manual or automatic? I like the look of the a4 avants are there any major problems with these

Petrol all the way with those miles.

Auto if you're going for a 3.0i, and i'd probably for a manual if its going to be a 2.0 litre or less.

Expect around 30mpg out of a BMW 3.0i driven sensibly.

Your biggest problem will be sourcing one

You'd just about get into an early B8 A4 Avant for that money. On 12k miles a year you'd probably be better of with a petrol. Will get a better quality than the equivalent diesel at the same price point. Would suggest something like this:

Surprised to hear petrol all the way at 12k miles - 30mpg petrol vs 45mpg diesel at that mileage is about £700 a year in favour of the diesel on fuel. I'd probably favour a petrol too but it depends what the OP wants out of it really.

Not going to lease one I don't think as 300 - 500 a month is dead money to me I prefer to buy out right I want some thing that cheap to run but still a abit of spark about it when the right peddle is pressed hard thanks for the suggestions though
