993 - which battery to buy please
Discussion
Evening All,
What spec of battery do I need for a power hungry 993 C4 Varioram please? Was considering a Bosch S5 096 Silver 008 but got very confused by the numbering??!! Is a S5 unnecessarily powerful?? Have no idea what 008 refers to either...
All at sea so appreciate any help.
Many thanks

I would recommend a Halfords Calcium. IIRC it's the HCB 096. The calcium technology seems to be much more than a marketing gimmick.
Why Halfords?
1) they are close
2) they offer and honour a 'no quibble' replacement warranty
3) they don't make batteries
I fitted one in summer 2008, and it's still going strong.

Dunno about codes but mine is an S5. The S4 I had gave up the ghost after 18 months and I couldn't find the warranty to get a replacement. The S5 does seem very powerful and its not much extra £££
That's right. As you go up the model range they all cost a few quid more than the last one but as well as the warranty length going up, so do the cranking amps, so you get a more powerful battery with longer warranty. I paid about £95 for an S5 for my GT3. ECP always have deals on.
