BMW M6 V10 or E92 M3 DCT

Hi all,
Currently looking at one of the above circa £25-30k. Either an M6 V10 coupe 2008 onwards with the competition pack or E92 M3 coupe with DCT.
From what I've read up on and seen on YouTube vids, there's not a whole lot of difference between the M6 and a DCT-equipped M3 at full chat, the M6 only pulling out a gap above 100mph, due to the M3s DCT being far more sophisticated than the SMG III?
Have any PHers on here owned both? Thoughts would be much appreciated
M6 so long as you have another car and it has a warranty. Why because of the engine alone. At the upper end of the rev range this is an amazing piece of engineering as seriously fast. M3's just dont look very good,loads around on the raods and look no bette tan a 320, are OK as a drivers car but no 911 or R8. The M6 is amazingly engineered, rare and with the right exhaust sounds epic.
M6 for me. I saw a lovely Interlagos blue one the other day and thought it looked both purposeful and restrained at the same time (although that could be said about the M3 too).
The S85 is one of the engines I must experience at one point and the rarity factor swings it for me too. There are a few E92 M3s round my neck of the woods and they seem to have a hard life - driven extremely hard in the most inappropriate places. M6s seem to attract an older clientele and are often very well looked after.
I would very much like to own an M6 and I wouldn't care if the M3 was quicker (if it is).

all about that V10 for me. The only thing that pulls me towards the M3 is that DCT transmission. Guess I'll have to try an M6 asap, as I've heard the SMG isn't that bad provided you know how to use it properly.Thanks for the inputs so far all :thumb up:

Gearbox? Above 100mph? No chance, that's what nearly another 100bhp will do.The SMG really suits the car on full chat. It's not a great box for sticking in auto and forgetting about like the DCT is, but once you know how to use it you can make is as smooth as any box on the market.
Also, get the M6. It has a V10.

Yeah, sorry that's what I meant. Ie the DCT helping to keep the M3 close to the M6 up to 100mph and then the 500bhp dominating proceedings from thereThe SMG really suits the car on full chat. Will the M3 creep close to £10k and mirror the curve of the E46 likely
Will the M6 do the same- much les chance why? Its super rare a numbers game and its top of the tree BMW wise of that era will it cost more than the E92 M3 day in day out - possibly but I'd wager very similar.

Don't think the E63 has aged well, love the look of the new one and the GT.
Best bet to test both, I'm sure they will drive very differently. Couldn't imagine the big M6 being much fun to hurl around although they do sound good with a decent exhaust system.
Having driven an SMG car I can confirm the DCT system is in a different league.
