It's a dct so it doesn't have a park position correct so I can ignore the error message that keeps coming up?

The little button by the dct gear stick that looks like a volume control is that to control how harsh or smoot the gear changes are?

I notice the rev counter at start up the yellow section moves around (I think I saw this) does that basically mean you can rev me but only this much at cold. Not that I would but just curious etc.

Finally are they all pretty sensitive through the steering wheel (compared to other BMW's) to road surfaces as I can feel the road a lot more than previous bmw's. It's not a buckled or imbalanced wheel as it's not as harsh or rythmic or at any certain speed but can definitely be felt more at motorway speeds

Park will come on when you switch the car off, you can't just select a park setting as if it were an standard auto, at the end of the day it is actually a manual car.

The little button by the gearstick sets the gearbox map. Car always defaults to 2 on start up. There are eleven settings in total, 1-5 in D (normal auto), with 5 being the fastest and most ferocious. 1-6 in S mode (flappy paddle or gear stick), 6 is hidden and you need to turn traction control off to access it. You've also got access to Launch control when in S6 and should be able to find full details of how to activate this in the user manual.

The yellow section on the rev counter indicates the maximum you should rev the engine during the warm up stages. To be honest I wouldn't take it over 3k until the car is warmed up which should only take 3-4 miles.

I would also suggest they are more sensitive to the road conditions than a standard 3 series especially if you have the EDC on Normal or Sport.

Hope this helps.

You have to have it in Drive or reverse, the error message comes up when the car is switched off and left in neutral.

I don't have that problem with mine once you remove the key.

Ignore the yellow lights and just keep it below 3k rpm until the oil temp guage shows the car is warm.
IIRC, the yellow lights are linked to the water temp which is an utterly pointless indicator of if the car can/should rev hard

As previously mentioned, the car needs to be in Drive or reverse, then P will be shown. I asked about this at BMW with there Master Technician and he said always put it in reverse when you park and then turn the engine off, works for me.
