Evening everyone, Can anyone recommend how I can find out if a 2nd hand watch for sale from a seller on Gumtree is both genuine and / or not reported stolen? (Says he has all papers and box etc)Is there a place online where you can check this? Bit wary about spending alot of money on something that is not what it appears to be!

Linky?

Do some research on the model and then give the seller a buzz and ask a load of questions; where was the watch originally brought from, service history, box and papers, any running issues, time keeping, any knocks/dings, method of payment, can you see the watch in person before purchase and so on. You'll soon get a feel as to if the seller is genuine, there are *a lot* of fakes on GT and many of those will be TAGs, unfortunately.

seems genuine based on questions already answered, just worried after taking for a service and them checking serial number it pops up as being stolen? Assume TH would keep a database of these?

They also seem to be selling a Rolex Sub for £190, all the pictures are of different watches!
I would be very suspicious.

It seems spectacularly fake, considering the same mobile number is associated with ads selling Rolex and Hublot for £190 in Cardiff, Exminster, Ashton Gate ...

Still, go for it, what's the worst that can happen?

That's fake, pretty obvious from the photo's, look at the clasp, the buttons (lack of red strip on the top one etc)

And isn't that a 1887 movement watch? I don't know much about tag's but take a look at this link.

and OP do you really expect to get a £5k watch for £190,

You know what are we being trolled?

Rear cover hiding movement, easy spot ( apart from that 100% gen mate ) . Go for it, looks like a gen watch with a fake back.

Is this for real? Do you REALLY have to come on here and ask that?

Nothing about the ad, price, pictures, other items for sale, wording (correct weight ffs!!)

This. Really that gullible to believe this is anything but a scam/fake/bumming.
