Lots of people seem to mention it, want it even.

But what actually is it in your opinion?

That bit in Bullitt when Bill Hickman double-takes at McQueen's GT390 in his RVM

you come up behind someone and they dive out of the way, bright xenon lights on a low car have that effect at night, needs to look a bit mean or angry to get the effect in the day time.

A Toyota iQ welded to your back bumper. Or have I got that a bit wrong?

For me its a car that a baddie could drive (note that I said could, not would)

For example, Baddie + Citroen Saxo = rofl

Baddie + Mustang GT = eek

The Mustang clearly has road Presence, The Saxo, none at all.

Try it, it works.

When you see a car that looks like if it was a human it would kick your head in laugh

This is road presence:

Something you would take a second glance at.

Using the cars mentioned above, if a Saxo drove past, you probably wouldn't notice it, however if a Mustang drove past, you'd likely take notice.

I found my 944 had it, people didnt know what it was and didnt think it was four grands worth of old Porsche, low, red, fairly wide with pop up headlamps, so think there was a bit of "best get out of the way" and a bit of "wonder what that is"

350Z has that effect, but not quite as much, C1, you may as well be on a mobility scooter, not sure why it makes much difference, I tend to drive the same speed in the C1, it just takes a lot longer to get there.

The RS6 has it. I find it almost funny how many people move out of the way when I'm not even trying to make progress, compared with when I'm driving the girlfriend's A1.

Road presents are freshly hit Pheasants that you can pick up and take home for tea.

This thread does have something of the "compensating for a trouser mouse" about it...

I always think that. Manufacturers give cars scowling wannabe hardman "faces" and then the people who buy these cock chariots wonder why nobody lets them out of junctions or treats them poorly. If you walked around with a Mr. Angry Eyes face like so many modern cars everyone would think you had some sort of mental illness.
