If you can actually get it for $14,000US that's not particularly expensive to be honest given the rarity and desirability of being able to fly a B17. It's in the same ballpark as self funding the IR they want you to have beforehand. Possibly not ideal for a junior First Officer with Easyjet up to his eyeballs in debt from borrowing the cost of his/her ATPL, but for anyone financially comfortable this should be achievable without too much pain.

I am assuming that the candidate pilot will be suitably competent and experienced before going for this anyway. I highly doubt that it's aimed at giving single engine piston landplane PPL holders a shopping list of ratings to collect before turning up to learn to fly their B17.
