The rear shocks on my Chimaera are producing a loud knocking sound when cold - I've had suggestions / recommendations from both a specialist and a main dealer which differ considerably:

Speciallist: "Your rear shocks are on the way out and need replacing. We recommend replacing them with Ledas but you'll have to replace the ones on the front too - even though they are ok"

Main dealer: "Rear shocks are knocking when cold - caused by noisy valves. No need to replace them, the replacements could go the same way in six months, performance would not be affected - they're just noisy"

So I'm stuck - who should I believe? Any further comments / recommendations would be grately appreciated. For info, the shocks are currently the original ones fitted by TVR.

Cheers,

Mark

Both. Depends on what is actually causing the problem. Try some other dealers/specialists.
