I'm sure there are better authorities on this but if your car is a late-ish build year then your rear discs will be 273 mm which I believe are from a Sierra Cosworth 4x4. If this is the case my best suggestion is to look at Ford's own Sierra RS/Escort RS Cosworth workshop manual which can be downloaded from: http://www.fordsierranet.com.ar/Fotos/Manual_Sierr... where someone has kindly made it available in .pdf form. Obviously most of the content is Sierra/irrelevant however section 12 contains the brakes info that might be useful to you.
I have just finished my front brakes/suspension overhaul and am about to do the same at the back end so if you come across any better info then please post back into this thread.

But no mention of how to remove the thick black handbrake cable, which I'm having issues with. Sods law...
As you're refurbing the calipers (and if it is a later car with the '500' brake set up) I take it they are coming off the car. If so its pretty simple (or it was in my case). First slacken off the handbrake cable as much as possible with the adjuster above the front of the diff on the offside. Then remove the actual caliper from the hub (2 allen bolts). This will enable the cable end to be unhooked from the spring.

As for removing the actual cable its just a push fit. Knock it out with a screw driver/drift. There isn't actually any kind of clip or devise holding it in (probably just a load of crud making it seem like its stuck fast).

Hope that helps smile

I found dismantling quite straightforward but tricky.
you need to be very careful when taking out the circlip of the cup holding the fast adjuster spring.
the spring can easily fly away 50 feet and the circlip will follow somewhere else.
don't ask me how I know. I spent more time searching this one circlip thanrebuilding both calipers including the trip to the beadblaster and the zinc plater.

I find this a very wise idea!
Because of rot I took my body off last year, all blasted, new outriggers, zinked, powdercoated etc
and now I am stuck because of delays and I honestly fear that yet another summer is going to pass without me driving the TVR.

believe me, it sucks. Today we have round 25 C and blazing sunshine... what do I drive? my diesel workhorse, complete s...e
