997 TT cracked suspension top mounts
Discussion
I have just had my 111 point check done to renew the warranty and one of the observations is that the front suspension top mounts are starting to crack.
Has anybody else had this and is it a warranty item. If not what sort of cost at the OPC.
Also noted was that the washer fluid was like sludge and suggest flushing out. What si the best way of doing this.
Car is a 2007 turbo with 31000 miles.
Thanks

These are the cast top mounts, not the sheet metal strut tower? The top mounts are covered by warranty, the shockers aren't. I just had this argument with my OPC 6 months ago.
The washer fluid goes like sludge because the washer concentrate goes off. You need to pull the bottle out and wash it.

My guess is the Turbo items have a rubber bush bonded into them, whereas the GT3/2 items have no such rubber bushings, only a spherical bearing. It'll be the bonded rubber bushing that's cracked/ing, not the metal housing. The washer fluid goes like sludge because the washer concentrate goes off. You need to pull the bottle out and wash it.
As it's split, my guess is it'll be counted as wear and tear (it's a bush, they do that unfortunately) hence it's doubtful it'll be a warranty item (but worth a try all the same) it'll also depend on the car's age, mileage, when it was supplied etc
