windows media player recording
Discussion
Got to be brief, bloody wife is nagging me to go shopping
I've got a portable hard drive with a 100 gigs of MP3s on it.
How can I copy onto my PC and use within Windows Media Player? Media player only seems to have facility to record from CD.
Presumably I need to convert from MP3 into WMA.
Appreciate any help,
Heebee.

Assuming you can access files on the portable hard drive by going through Windows Explorer or similar then simply copy them all and paste them back onto a local drive (ideally My Music file within My Docs) - then just let Media Player do a system scan to find them ...or if portable hard drive remains connected to pc permanently there is no need to copy them over, just bring up a search from Media Player (hit F3) and point it to the letter that represents the external drive and it will find and play them from there.
Windows Media Player will quite happily play MP3 so no need to convert.
