Roofs Up!!!?!?!
Discussion
Seen today - Mazda MX5, Porsche Boxster on the A49 heading south to Hereford, Audi TT convertible in the village. Link of course is that they're all hairdressers cars.
Was at lads cricket presentation this evening and guy turned up in a 5.0l Griffith, roof down in the drizzle. A real man, but blimey what a quiet sounding car.

Well in this weather there is no excuse. I'm fed up seeing people driving around in their convertibles with the roofs still up. So I'm starting this thread so we can name and shame the marques and models. Please post up any you spot....
Adam, you've got it all wrong mate. This is the time to put the top up. 'SUN STROKE'. Remember our national warning when the sun is out. Stay in the shade between 11am and 3pm. You know it makes sense. No wonder eveyone is giving Mark a funny look with him shaking his head all the time.

Did a lot of miles for work yesterday (a full circuit if the M25 plus a bit of the M40 to oxford) and saw maybe 60 or 70 odd convertibles - probably 70% had roofs up. Worst offenders seemed to be the luxury German brands. Now it may have been that roofs were up because they're doing motorway stuff and don't want to mess the hair up or my suspicion is these cars are fitted with A/C and when it's hot and sunny the drivers would rather have roof up and AC on rather than put the roof down. Which rather begs the question if you're not going to put the roof down in the sort of weather we had yesterday, why have a convertible at all ???
I have had my Saab Convertible now for about 3 months so can speak from a little experience
Ever since I got it the weather turned sunny and hot (it must be a good thing)
Whilst I would never drive the Wedge with the roof on (obviously!!!),
except when very heavy rain or snow, the Saab is a completely different beast
(I forgot to mention the Saab is a V6 2.8 Twin Turbo with various handling improvements and 285bhp!!)
Sometimes, it feels more of a delay to wait while the roof retracts (electrically) for short journeys
and I don't leave the car with it down anywhere for security reasons in Bradfordistan
As mentioned above, the air con is very good but obviously only works while the roof is up
and finally, it is very easy to get too hot and burn in the Saab and need the roof up for protection
HTH
PS The wind turbulence within the cabin is much worse in the Saab (and I am looking for a Saab Wind deflector)
The Wedge is far nicer from the elements when driving
and
I also, like you all, still drive past other convertibles with their roofs on, and think WHY?!!!!!!! ha ha

Richard, I am very much like you and own another modern convertable. I have been the proud owner of a BMW 645Ci for a number of years now. It pushes out 330BHP naturally aspirated, has all the possible toys, and can take on any production TVR in sport mode. However, it lacks that fun element, and never ever goes wrong, so there is nothing to tinker with. Even if there was, I wouldn't know where to start looking under the bonet. I like owning and driving the Wedge. I must do, as I have gone back to a Wedge five times even though I've had the 645Ci all the time.Ever since I got it the weather turned sunny and hot (it must be a good thing)
