350SE dizzy

Had a misfire about 18 mounths ago.changed the usual bits (cap rotor leads) but in the prosess of getting the old rotor arm off everthing went wrong. this resulted in me re building the distributor on the bench and refitting late at night, all i did that night was re fit and see if it fired up and it did. Next day timing, done by ear to start and tweeked for a couple of weeks after, all good until now! looks like its all popped up again as the latast rotor has been rubbing on the cap. suck on the advance pipe nothing. and with the cap off and try to move the rotor arm it just doesnt feel right. still starts. ticks over for a while cold but cuts out after about 30 secs,driving when warmed up its not got the same feel but will cruse,pull up to stop it cuts out and knocks like the timings out.dizzy rebuld again? new dizzy? recon? after market? Do you mean the central shaft has moved upwards a bit?

This would affect the timing quite badly because as it rises the arm rotates what with the intermeshing drive gears.

I haven't really looked - how is the shaft retained in the dizzy - is there a circlip?
