I'm after a bit of advice really in terms of suitable portable lighting to shoot cars with on a budget. Ideally I'd like at least two and some suitable wireless triggers to go with them which will work beyond the 2ft limit I seem to have with the cheap ones I'm using at the moment. Obviously as I need them to be portable, they either need to be wireless or have the ability to use battery packs.

Thanks for any help, would be greatly appreciated!

I just got a Yongnuo 568EX II, so say I am happy with it would be an understatement. It is half the price of the Canon 460 and comparable to the Canon 600.

It can be a wireless controlled without an external adapter, can be used in TTL ( both nikon and Canon ) , can be slaved, can be triggered in manual from another flashs IR, goes to 1/8000 sync, and can be used with both canon and nikon wireless systems.

I'm currently using four Yongnuo 460-II flashguns, but for my needs their cyclic rate isn't high enough and neither is their power output. I'm looking more for some portable studio lights, something akin to the alien bees that seem to have disappeared from the face of the planet over the last year!

Profoto B1s probably the most ideal but they are very expensive and potentially offer some neat tricks - no TTL remote yet for Nikon or hypersync though.

Elinchrom Quadra's in the mid-high end are well regarded but I've stayed clear as all my light modifiers are S-fit.

I use Lencarta Safari Li-on, pretty good and cheap but the battery is heavy, not as solid construction compared to above. Now been replaced by Safari 2. These lights have plenty of power to them.

Something in between these and the strobes are the Godox small packs (Lencarta also sell them now in their own brand Atom).

Photomart have this new system called iLux Summit. Spec wise looks good but I don't know anything else about them. Could be worth checking out as prices are reasonable.

That's very helpful mate, thank you. I'll look into those. Profoto B1s would be ideal but I get the impression I'll be laughed out of the finance office :/

I have Quadras, very happy with them, and the service from The Flash Centre.
