Where to go next

So time comes to part with my 5 year old E90. Its a 320D with performance pack and few small mods on top. Bought new with 11 miles on clock has served me well as was looking at 20k plus a year on mileage. Ironically things have changes and in 5 years barely have done 60K. So owning a diesel is turning out a hind sight moment. So where to go since with average 9k per year now I could be in something worthy more of the petrol ethos. Thought I get some feedback as I'm sure everybody has own one in past on here. Current choices are split into two parts. Got few ideas in mind so just wanted to find out real world experiences , running costs etc.

Safe bets are a new
F30 328i or Golf R32

Grail choice is used
E90 M3 Saloon / XF-R / A5 possibly

XFR without a doubt. Just looks so much better than anything from Germany at the moment. I wish my miles were so low, i'd be considering one.

Another vote for the XFR.

I must admit that my mileage has been far lower than expected (5k personal + 5k business@24p/mile) since I bought my car and in hindsight I somewhat wish I'd gone with something even quicker than the 2.5T. Maybe next year.

A7 is just too big. A XFr just barely fits on driveway, joy of modern builds and driveways.

Anyone driven the 325i yet, in proportions it seems about the size of my old e46. Might have to consider that as well

E90 m3 and the savings on depreciation and the initial purchase cost towards years of fuel!

XF-R if you can make it work is a great idea, one of the best looking saloon cars of the last decade and the 5.0 v8 with a charger is sensational.

You'll certainly get an arguement! Its looks are divisive and seem to polarise opinion. I can't decide what I think of it. I have a strong dislike for Audi in general but think the A5 is a handsome car. It's the opposite of my idea of a good car to drive though so I'd never buy one.

OP - I'm going resist sounding like a fanboy but given your milage you really ought to get a large petrol engine whatever you do. Based upon how bad the mid-range BMW petrols are set up I'd suggest a halo model of whichever flavour that has actually had the engineering attention it deserves to make it a great car.

Thanks all I think I can see a weekend full of test drives coming up.

One side something small and fast sounds tempting but given I'm 6'3" and not on small size a big saloon sounds a good option.

I think its going to be a case of going through them all.

on side note the vxr did tempt but having got use to BMW levels of trim I cant see myself living with a GM trim. Spoiled I know but its the same asking someone with a V8 to go to a 1.4CDI dacia sandero

On my short list when I changed my car a few months ago were the c63, M5, XFR, Lexus ISF and E90 M3.

In the end I just felt the 4 door M3 was the best all rounder
