997t gen1 facelift to Gen2??

Hi all
I am considering facelifting my 997t gen1 to gen2
What are your thoughts and how complicated is it? Spoke with my local OPC and was advised when it comes to renewing warranty it would not pass 111 point check even though all parts used would be genuine Porsche parts.
Anyone done this,would welcome any input

Hi mate
Although I didn't do this myself I know someone who had it done. I would say personally your best bet is Design 911 in Essex they have pictures of the before and after and with what is involved...it's quite a bit more than I originally thought. I think Porsche shop also do this too. The other way is to maybe get all the parts yourself on eBay etc as even stuff like gen2 lights new cost is a lot and they come up on there frequently for a lot less...

yeah, I have recently lost £6 in depreciation on mine on top of the fiver I lost down the back of my child seat last year. And thats in one and half years and 20k miles of ownership, I dread to think what the next few years will bring.So would be cheaper to buy the newer better car.

I think it's because the gen2 has LED's and so there are resistors etc that have to be used to stop warning lights appearing on the dash... There are aftermarket LED's that are 'plug and play' but as you are doing it properly with all the correct bits the wiring does have to be altered a bit. Have all the parts ready from a 2012

Hi Rocco,
I face lifted my 997.1 C4s and found it quiet easy. You say you have all the parts so it should be a doddle.
I only face lifted the rear of my car so I changed the bumper, the rear lights, a small support panel where the engine lid shuts and the rear light control unit which sits under the passenger seat.
No wiring loom change was necessary but the new rear end control unit does need to be coded to tell it you have led lights.
The control unit I bought from Porsche and was about £ 170 the coding cost me £20. The other parts were secondhand.
Let me know if you need any more info or pics.
In my opinion it was well worth it for the updated look, ok it doesn't have the dfi engine or Pdk gearbox or the just ok PCM 3,
but it didn't cost 20k extra to get all these!

However, I would also suggest that you discuss options with Brian at Jasmine. I'm sure they've done a few conversions now, if you're set on the idea.
