Put a NA decent sized lump into the Cayman with all that goes with it, would it be the best modern Porsche available and de-throne the mighty 911?

Probably, and that's exactly why they won't, mike

Would you be willing to pay 911 money for it?

I think the 981 Cayman is a betting looking car than the 991. If it had the 3.8 engine, it would undoubtedly be more popular. But it would also be very much more expensive

RUF will do exactly that for you...

Gonna be pricey though.

Yup, have a look at the RUF 3800S - seems to garner a lot of praise as the best Porsche that Porsche never built....

Yep. Porsche is about getting exactly what you pay for. Why is the Cayman GTS barely held behind the 911? Because it's cheaper. Porsche will never let you "get something for nothing".

We'll see this with the GT4. It's going to cost more than a base Carrera. It's probably going to cost more than a Carrera S. It may cost more than a Carrera S with the X51 PowerKit. Its performance will be reflected in its price.

Same as the 458 , vantage and Audi R8 ones,

Cayman is Porsche sports car, the 911 is now in another sector of wafting GT cars.
