I need some general advice on a car all input welcome ^^

Hi there I'm very new to this site my friend told me I could get some advice from here...

Anyway I have been given a choice of a bmw 645ci 05 with 100k miles on the clock

Or an Evo 8 with 65k miles on the clock

I'm well aware they are different type of cars I just don't know what to pick...

Keep in mind I do not need to pay for either of the cars

if you want to reply could you say why you would choose what you have chosen

I'm 24 years old ^^

Without a doubt the 645.

That is a proper motor, and I'm not even a fan of the 6 series!

The Evo 8 is fast but uncouth.

What kind of driving will you be doing, back roads, long distances on motorways or something else?
Can you test drive them and decide yourself?
You say you won't have to pay for them but will you have to maintain and insure them?

Not sure which I would choose, they do compliment each other.

Think this is a bit of a white elephant, school hols and all, but at 24 i'd go for the Evo.
Although I'd want to be earning enough for insurance and servicing.

evo all the way, the 6 is for people who want people to think they have money, the evo is for driving and don't give a flying what people think, before the market was taken over by diesel repmobiles and german ugly middle class hatches, evos ruled the roost as the fastest around.

but i would buy a daily car too and save evo for weekends..

I can afford the insurance on both, sadly I can't test drive them but I understand that both cars are very well kept. The bmw is a beautiful car and so is the evo 8... and it would be a daily use car and it will be used for everything... long distance and short... motorway and urban I am just stuck on what would be better since I have only got reviews to go on and they are very hit and miss

I've got a 645 as a daily and I love it; but much more a cruiser and b-road blasts need to be well planned and thought out. I average 25mpg with a mix of motorway and London driving. Servicing ain't cheap and make sure the service menu in the idrive is fully green when viewing. It is a lovely place to sit though (a major criteria given most of my time is spent sitting in London!)

ETA: I get a lot of comments due to the age/car combo - I'm 29 and get all the usual comments from the ill-informed. I don't notice it as much but the gf is always saying how she sees people checking out the car then who's driving, so expect a lot of comments if you get one at 24

I was thinking the same haha the looks from people. I'm being given one or the other for my 24th birthday I just got to fuel it and insure it. The 645ci has an m6 body kit but not the m6 logo ofc. It's just the evo looks SOOOOO fun. With your 645ci do find your self excited to drive it or just laid back ? I understand it's a car for a cruise and the evo is for hell bent fun... very nice car btw how many miles does it have on it ?

Definitely laid back; the Evo will be much more highly strung and a proper blast on back roads (and probably the sharper drive) but the 6 is no slouch; 333bhp and (iirc) ~1,700kgs means it can shift when you put your foot down; the V8 warble is lovely too (assuming you have a decent exhaust) but it is much more suited to motorways and open A/B roads than tight and twisties. I went through my fast phase a few years ago and wanted something more relaxed; I wouldn't blame you for taking the Evo.

I bought mine a year past May with 65k on the clock for £9k; I would be extra careful and thoroughly check out a 100k mile one before committing (known issues are sump plugs, gearbox seals and oil leaks in the engine block) but if it's been well looked after and documented, I'd say it's worth a shout. If there is missing history or documents I'd take a walk.
