Any time in January is good for me, but considering that Christmas is generally a season to over-indulge, how about :

22nd January or
29th January?

Any suggestion on curry houses? I've been told that 4,221 miles from Delhi or wherever is excellent and also have been told that Chutney Jack's (both on Maid Marian Way) is superb. Other than that, I have only tried flock wallpaper palaces on Mansfield Road and Radford Road and The Jewel in West Bridgford.

I was thinking that we could go to the Ye Old Trip to Jerusalem (oldest pub in England) and maybe onto the bars on the waterfront after. Yeah or neah?

Any preference on Nottingham as a venue? rafdug is more over Stafford way, quite a few more nearer Leicester, and a few of us are Derby way. How about Mumbai Blue on the A38 midway between derby and Burton upon Trent? Only problem is what to do before and after? Maybe Nottingham is best after all.
The only places I know in Derby are out of the city, and Derby city centre itself is awfull, best avoided.

I shall have to stop over wherever it is, which is nearest coming from the South?

No difference if coming from the south, anyway, Nottingham and Derby are so close, they may as well be suburbs of the same place. Just the A52 linking them together. Best stick with Notnum.

count me in too, the old trip sounds like a great idea, I've never been (even though I've been around nottingham for 17 years!) but lately I have discovered an unhealthy urge to visit it for some reason??? hey ho..so - I promise to not get [radford]mar-deh[/radford] and not turn up this time!
